Let's talk Skin Detoxing!

With the millions of products out there, I love a travel or trial size treat! Let's dive into the Biossance:. Squalane + Tea Tree Detox Mask:

Biossance:. Squalane + Tea Tree Detox Mask

Detoxing my whole face is a brand-new adventure for me. With my Sahara dry skin, the MOST mask detoxing I do is the whiteheads on my nose. Moving from New York to Florida has thrown my skin (and my life) for a loop, to say the least.

In my last FabFitFun Box (I’m a sucker for a subscription box!) I got a sample size of the Biossance:. Squalene & Tea Tree Detox Mask. Between the Florida humidity and working out every day, my formerly smooth skin was acting reckless. In the spirit of self-care, I took the leap into a brand I haven’t tried before… on my whole face.

I have to be honest, I both like and dislike this mask. I enjoyed that the mask really worked well and detoxed like it claims. On the other hand, I feel completely disrespected from my own face. I take care of you girl! Why are you attacking me with this giant pimple on my cheek?!?!

As someone who is trying to use more natural based or “clean” beauty, I was excited to try this out. I loved that it has a clean seal from Sephora, its vegan, cruelty free and gluten free as well. It also has some really great ingredients that piqued my interest immediately

  • Tea Tree: a really great naturally antiseptic plant that helps with purifying the skin. I have been using tea tree oil for years now. I even used to disinfect Danny’s toys with it when he was a baby.

  • Squalene: The wonder oil! Squalene is a weightless hydrator derived from plants. NOW WAIT! Squalene can also be derived from shark liver oil. Please make sure that any product you use is cruelty free and plant derived. -Fun Fact: Our bodies produce a unique form of squalene that depletes as we age.

  • French Green Clay: Great for decongesting clogged skin.

  • Matcha Green Tea- Packed full of antioxidants to not only calm and soothe skin, but also protect against environmental aggressors.

Now, on to the tea… (the tea tree… if you will)

My immediate reaction was “Holy F*ck! My face is burning off!” Normally, if a mask or skincare item burns, REMOVE IT IMMEDIATELY! In this case, Mama didn’t raise a quitter and I persevered for the full 10 minutes directed on the package. Once it settled in, it felt more like icy hot. Still, not a great feeling on my face. I feel I should mention my skin isn’t super sensitive, but I do have a ridiculous amount of plant allergies. (Like every tree in NY hates me)

I like this mask because it really did pull out some gunk from underneath my skin. All of the sore spots are now FULL-BLOWN PIMPLES, but ready for further treatment. My skin is super soft and only my forehead was a bit irritated. Over-all, the mask did its job and detoxed the grossness out of my face. The crappy part… not picking at the 2 severe pimples on my face.

If you’re looking for a serious pore cleansing experience, and you’re ready to really do the follow up work, try it for yourself!

You can grab this bad boy at Sephora.com for $39.

Good Luck and Happy Cleansing!
